It seems like pools and beaches are closing earlier and earlier each year, due to staffing. Yet, the end of August is filled with very hot days sometimes! I’ve always appreciated that most splash pads don’t close until Labor Day. This way, there is still a fun way for kids to cool off even when everything is closed. Lion’s Park in Shakopee has a cute splash pad that my kids seem to love. I love that there are large umbrellas with benches to sit close by, so I can stay in the shade while they play. Right next to the splash pad, there is a large accessible park. Even in the midst of a heat-filled day, all of the playground equipment was cool enough to play on when we were there. They especially loved the zip lines and the accessible merry-go-round. Since they are right next to each other, our kids loved switching back and forth from the playground to the splash pad. This park/splash pad is located right next to Shakopee’s SandAdventure Water Park. Both times we have been to this park, younger kids and their families came from the water park to allow their kids to run through the splash pad. Definitely a great location for littles to play without being overwhelmed!
