If you have never been to Fairmont, it’s a town you should visit! I’d compare it to a smaller scale of Wayzata, Minnesota with their lakes. Known as the “City of Lakes”, they have a chain of five lakes that are stunning. The city contains many airbnbs for this reason and has a smaller town feel, combined with a cabin feel. Nestled between two of the lakes lies a wonderful park that not only my kids love, but I do as well. Gomsrud Park boasts beautiful views of boats passing through both lakes and not one, but two wonderful parks. When a new park was built in this spot, the city left the other park in the same spot. My kid’s favorite part of both parks are some animal swings. Kids can push themselves on these older swings that look like animals. For some reason, all three kids get a kick out of these and spend a large majority of our time swinging while here. The older part of the park also, contains a fun fake car that kids enjoy sitting in and pretending to drive.

The newer part of the playground is a wonderful accessible park. Containing music elements, two ziplines, a unique climbing structure, and many other pieces, this is a favorite. I love that my youngest child can do many of the same things as the big kids at this park, just at her level. All along the two playgrounds are many picnic tables, including a covered shelter. As you eat, you can watch all kinds of boats, from kayaks to pontoon boats, pass through the canal between the two lakes. This makes it a great location for a picnic. Our favorite time of year to visit Gomsrud is in the fall as the weather and views are still stunning. After you finish playing, treat the family to some treats either at Dairy Freeze (cash only restaurant) or Graffiti Corner.
