Ramsey Park- Redwood Falls

As we approach fall, another stunning location for this time of year is Ramsey Park in Redwood Falls. Yes, it’s not up north again! An easy two hour drive from the Twin Cities, this area is a definite spot to visit. It has a ton to offer and makes for a unique day trip. We try to go once a year at least and our favorite time to visit is definitely the fall. The trees are beautiful and I love seeing the river and the falls with the beautiful foliage around it.

So, what does this park have to offer? Where should I start? There’s a tiny zoo with a few different kinds of animals, including elk and bison. Entering the park, there is a stunning stone bridge that you can walk or drive across with the river on both sides. Throughout the park, there are a wide assortment of different other kinds of bridges for you to walk across as well. That assortment does include a suspension bridge, which is not always my favorite, but I’ve faced my fears each visit. The waterfall itself also, has to be included in the list. An easy spot to hike to, but also accessible from two different parking lots. This was one trip that we were able to take with my dad when his mobility was limited. Most places within the park are very accessible with parking lots right beside all large attractions. It’s a very kid-friendly park as well. There are several spots in the river that have small areas of creek and lots of rock that are perfect for kids that love to jump on the rocks and explore the water. Definitely a favorite part for my son! Along a few of the walkways lie sensory paths, which distracts my kids from the hard part of hiking…walking. Last, the park has four different playgrounds. Our favorite playground is one of the ones at the top of the hill going down into the park. Not only does it have an older, original playground, but it also has a newer playground with a scavenger hunt that my kids love.

Redwood Falls itself is a cute little town as well. If you’re making a day trip, make sure to check out the local ice cream spot, Dari King. The public library in Redwood Falls also, has an adorable outdoor play area and tons of play options inside. Note that it is only open on the weekdays in the fall.

Overall, Ramsey Park is worth the trip! It’s a stunning area with so much to explore. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
