Looking for a great experience gift for your family?

As the holidays are approaching, you might be looking for a great experience gift. In our little family, we do the four gift system. Each kid receives something to use, something to play with, something to read, and an experience. Sometimes, we do a family experience gift and sometimes, we do individual experience gifts. Experience gifts are easily my favorite each year. We have slowly been trying to incorporate experience gifts into our giving with families as well.

If you’re looking for an experience gift that keeps on giving, buy a Science Museum of Minnesota membership. Why? Let me explain…we put off buying a membership or even taking our kids for so long because everyone said they wouldn’t enjoy it. I had been many times as a kid, teaching, and even with my family prior to having kids. Yet, I let people tell me my kids wouldn’t like it. When we finally decided to try it, our kids were 6, 3, and 1 month old. They loved it. While they didn’t read about the activities, they could participate in a large majority of them. Both of the older two especially loved the sportsology and the dinosaur fossil exhibit.

Not only did they love the exhibits, but the perks of being a member were so awesome! We all got to go see an OmniMax Theater movie each time we visited and we always went an hour early to get the members only access time. This allowed us to see more of the museum with less crowds. The members-only time is from 9 am to 10 am daily.

An explorer+ membership would be for two adults in a household and all dependents under the age of 21. This is $149 for a full year membership. On a normal visit, adults are $29.95 each, children (ages 4-17) are $19.95 each, and children under 4 are free. Our membership pays for our family within 2 visits for the entire year.

Yet, THIS is the number one reason I would recommend getting a Science Museum membership…did you know that you get in FREE to 350 museums around the world? So, not only did we get in free whenever we visited the Science Museum, but we visited three other museums during the year of having a membership and could have visited many more…for free!

Here are the three other museums we visited:

The Omaha Children’s Museum- Omaha, Nebraska

Washington Pavilion of Arts & Sciences- Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Children’s Museum of La Crosse- La Crosse, Wisconsin

Such a great experience gift that truly can keep giving, especially if you are traveling during the year. It pays for itself EASILY and will continue to give your family or the gifted family experiences throughout the year. Enjoy!

Until my next adventure,

Allie
