About

I grew up in a family that loved to explore. Vacations were not for sitting and our days growing up consisted of finding new favorite spots and returning to old spots that we loved. Since becoming a mom, I embraced finding adventures for our family. In 2019, my husband and I felt a strong calling from God to have me resign from my current position teaching special education and begin to stay home with our kids at the end of the school year. Little did I know that within two weeks of summer beginning, my husband would get a job away from all the places I comfortably knew to a small town, away from my family. Adjustment was rough, coming from a suburbs girl to a small town girl. Yet, I loved exploring all the new to me towns. Within the next year, the pandemic began and my dad was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. In an effort to make memories, explore, and be able to see each other regularly when so many things were shut, I began a tradition that easily became my favorite day of the week. Adventure Fridays began. Every Friday, I would pack up the kids with a plan of where to go for the day and meet my parents somewhere in between both of our towns. On those days, there were no chores, no time commitments, and no rushing. It was just open time and exploration. Those memories were easily some of my favorites that I got to share with my dad and mom before my dad passed away in March of 2021. After he died, we continued Adventure Fridays. We have discovered countless hidden gems throughout Minnesota and a few other states that have provided wonderful memories. There is so much joy in showing your family new places and building new traditions. I want you to experience the same joy and the same adventures, so come along with me as we explore! Tagging along with my adventures are my husband and three kids (8, 5, and 2).
