Autumn Acres Farm Pumpkins- Janesville, MN

We had visited Autumn Acres for the first time a little over a month ago for their sunflowers. The field was so beautiful that we had to check out the farm for what their pride and joy is…their pumpkins! When we pulled up to the farm, my oldest daughter immediately goes, “We’ve been here! It looks so different!” And it did. The amount of work that had taken place in the last five weeks to transform the farm into a pumpkin patch was incredible! It was the most gorgeous day when we visited and we were spoiled to have the farm to ourselves, most likely because it was a weekday afternoon.

On Wednesdays and Thursdays, the Fun Zone is free. Admission to the fun zone on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays is $2 per person 3 years old and up. Of course, this is the area my oldest daughter immediately wanted to go to. Walking in the fence, there are so many little details that must have taken so much time to make it perfect for all of us. The Fun Zone contained two large corn pits, a mini obstacle course, straw mountain with slides, a giant pumpkin ring toss, music sticks, pumpkin bean bag toss, regular bean bag toss, tire rockers, pumpkin tic-tac-toe, a bushel basket toss, connect four, kerplunk, duck racing, a basketball shooting game, a climbing dome, and so many cute photo opportunities. I’ve mentioned this before, but my family loves sensory opportunities, so my daughters loved the corn pits. They could have easily spent an hour in there. My oldest daughter also, enjoyed the duck racing and kerplunk. Holding the basketball for the shooting game and the climbing dome were my other daughter’s highlights. Again, we could have spent a lot more time here than we did.

Next, we went back to the front gate to get a wagon for some pumpkins. There was a you-pick patch with many photo opportunities. All of the photo opportunities were carefully arranged and perfect for someone wanting to get adorable fall pictures. One thing I loved was the wide variety of pumpkins available. Autumn Acres hand-washes each pumpkin and ensures your pumpkin picking experience is clean and easy. They were not yet available when I was there, but Autumn Acres make their own famous ghost gourds, handpainted and one-of-a-kind! We got a variety of gourds for a gourd sensory bin and some mini white pumpkins, along with a pump-ke-mon pumpkin. My daughter was so excited to help me pick as the pumpkins and gourds were easily accessible for littles. Prices were very affordable, especially with such unique kinds. Their paying system was incredibly slick and easy. I scanned a barcode and the item popped up into a web page. Changing the amount of items and adding onto the order was incredibly easy. When I was finished, I could bring it up to the front to check out with cash or I could easily just type in my credit card info quickly. Being able to pay at the convenience of your phone was definitely helpful!

During our visit, we also got to check out the historic schoolhouse. Being a teacher, I loved seeing an original school house and explaining the concept of a one-room school house to my daughters. When I had last visited, they had just moved it to this location. Already, the floors had been finished and they had started repairs inside. It was beautiful!

We ran out of time, but there is also, a corn maze. On the weekends, hay rides are offered for a fee as well. While I was visiting, I got to meet the owners of Autumn Acres. Such incredibly nice, hard-working people! Despite it being a great time to get things done around the farm with minimal people there, they took time out to talk to me and my girls. One thing I love about starting this blog is truly reflecting and seeing the people behind the businesses. It is so amazing to experience first-hand the hard work, heart, and prayers poured into businesses by their owners. Autumn Acres definitely falls into that category. They’ve made something special out of their farm and we are all lucky to experience it!
