Whenever I hear about a park in Eagan, it’s often Woodhaven. A beautiful, all-inclusive, accessible park that is new within the last few years. Complete with ziplines, a light maze, an area of musical instruments, a toddler section, and a wide variety of swings, your kids can easily be busy for a few hours here. My son’s favorite spot at this park is a section of basketball hoops. They have varying heights and colors. He loves to just shoot hoops in this section and also, loves that they have some basketballs available when we forget one! Another perk to this stunning park is clean, indoor bathrooms and a large pavilion with picnic tables, allowing for the perfect spot for a picnic, play date, or long afternoon.

Yet, just a few minutes away, is a hidden gem of a park. Patrick Eagan park is a natural playscape which allows kids to use their creativity while playing in nature. Kids (or adults) can climb the large boulders, nets, and logs. They can uncover dinosaur bones in the sand area. Forts can be built nestled in between the trees using sticks. A long zipline rounds out the play area. Trails and a beautiful look out are other areas to enjoy the nature surrounding the park. Again, there are picnic tables with a pavilion for a picnic lunch spot and port-a-potties. So often, we get sucked into the allure of a beautiful playground and forget that nature playgrounds offer play and creativity in the same way. When my kids are left to doing what they do best, playing, they often spend more time at nature playgrounds and tell me more stories about their play from the nature areas. So, the next time you visit Eagan, make sure you pack in a visit to each of these parks and let your kids explore! If you need a treat after playing, pop on by T-Rex cookies for their famous 1/2 pound cookies!
